Revisiting The Untouched Valley With CaratLane...

CaratLane - a Tanishq partnership, India’s first omnichannel jewelry brand was founded in 2008, by Mithun Sacheti and Srinivasa Gopalan, with a simple but courageous objective – to make beautiful jewelry accessible, affordable and forever wearable. All CaratLane collections draw design inspirations from a strong historical legacy and interpret them in a modern theme.

With the new-age woman as a muse, the design philosophy at CaratLane is to make jewelry which makes the wearer ‘feel’ beautiful, drawing out her compelling individuality, inner confidence, and self-esteem.

With a strategic investment from Titan Company Limited, CaratLane is now partners with India’s largest retail jeweler, Tanishq. The partnership aims to work towards a common mission – to offer customers beautiful jewelry and a distinctive shopping experience that fits today’s values and lifestyles - enabling CaratLane to grow as India’s 21st-century jewelry brand.

CaratLane is also known for its signature jewelry-buying experience across all platforms. Along with the website, which is India’s largest online jewelry destination, CaratLane, has over 42 brand stores across the country. The stores bring the seamless jewelry buying experience with a no barrier access to all jewelry, along with Magic Mirrors for #CaratLaneVirtualTryOn

CaratLane also pioneered a unique Try@Home feature for jewelry buyers in the country, where customers can book an appointment, get their desired jewelry delivered at their doorsteps, and try them at their comfort with no-obligations to buy. Further CaratLane also launched a revolutionary virtual try-on app – the Perfect Look App – which enables jewelry buyers to try multiple pieces without, literally, having to putting them on.

With the launch of their twelfth store at Vikas Marg, situated at one of the most happening shopping destinations in New Delhi, CaratLane brings in a uniquely smart jewelry buying experience.

Mithun Sacheti, Founder & CEO CaratLane said, while speaking about the launch,

Delhi is one of our key markets as our simplistic yet trendy designs are very well received and loved by the consumers here. This has encouraged us to launch our twelfth store which will help us make modern jewelry even more accessible. Located on East Delhi’s most prominent area Vikas Marg, the Shankar Vihar store will give users easy access to our jewelry including our latest collection ‘Noor-e-Kashmir’ inspired by the mesmerizing colors of the Valley. Like all our other stores, here too we've created a whole new world of precious jewelry - beautifully urbane and edgy designs for everyday wear.

As is evident, CaratLane stores are different from the typical Indian jewelry stores. They are designed for a truly omnichannel experience.

For a brand that’s on a mission to democratize access to jewelry, this store launch, the twelfth in New Delhi and forty-second in the country, is another step forward in that direction.

Should you wish to witness the beauty of the valley rendered by delicate craftsmanship, head to 18, Shankar Vihar, Vikas Marg, Delhi - 92 right away! :)

Rocking The Delhi Times Lifestyle Week: #DTLW

November began on a trendy note with Style Gods smiling heartily as the crème-de-la-crème and stars of vogue descended in Delhi all thanks to a two-day long Delhi Times Lifestyle Week that was underway in the capital in association with Kohler and Panasonic Beauty.

With spectacular lineups for avant-garde collections pioneered by some of the most iconic names in the style circle as its highlight, #DTLW was all about trendy looks with chic designs setting the ramp ablaze.

While the commencement stood testimony to bespoke creations showcased by celebrated designers like Mandira Wirk, Samant Chauhan and Rocky Star, the showstopper for the evening was actress Evelyn Sharma who walked the ramp in a Rocky S designer outfit, closing for the day.

Models Laxmi Rana, Sonalika Sahay, Candice Pinto, Deepti Gujral, Donna Masih and others dazzled the stage and mesmerized the audience as they walked the ramp showcasing the work of the designers.

Mandira Wirk presented her 'Pastel Romance' with intricately detailed designs that had minimalist aesthetics.

Samant Chauhan’s collection was an ode to the blank canvas as well as to all those metaphors that stand for life and light.

However, it was a rose gold ensemble with an envious flair that Evelyn dazzled in, as it was a dramatic silhouette with bold motifs, thereby blending Rocky Star's ideation of old-world charm with contemporary fascination.

Catch Evelyn's dramatic twirl...

On the other hand, #DTLW also culminated as it had commenced - on an exceptionally glamorous note - with Pia Pauro, Siddartha Tytler, and Falguni and Shane Peacock showcased their couture and prêt collections on the day of conclusion.

Pia Pauro’s 'Wonderflip' was presented by Sunar Jewels.

It frolicked around with vibrant hues, nomadic embroideries, layering and cool cotton fabrics to complement those long hours of dancing effortlessly.

Siddartha 'Sid' Tytler’s collection romanced in black, earthy tones with highlights in gold.

Catch a glimpse of the monochrome canvas painted by Siddhartha...

 Falguni and Shane Peacock took #DTLW to the next level by showcasing their signature use of feathers, sequins, and prints.

The icing on the cake was that the premium lifestyle week was drawn to a close with a captivating walk by actress Diana Penty for the grand finale.

The Delhi Times Lifestyle Week closed on an enthralling note as the ramp came alive with color, art, tradition, and of course, a heavy dose of style over the course of a couple of days drenched in extravagance.

#TraditionMyWay This Diwali!

Diwali is the festival of bliss, goodness, and lights. Celebrations are at its peak during this festive tenure during each calendar year. The festival lends a certain inexplicable cheer to the mood and we all express our goodwill, love and a unique style in our own way by the means of a customary revamp of the wardrobe to usher in the festive spirit. After all, this Indian festive extravaganza brings with it a great opportunity to lighten the pocket, which must not be let gone, at any cost! ;)

I decided to paint my world festive with my own palette and brush in hand. To craft a #TraditionMyWay Diwali look for me was my aim. To express my festive style, I decided to choose complementary rather than contrast. After all, this is the time when fashion dons a new definition as the tradition meets individuality.

The decorative lights outside must not only adorn the facade of one's house but also the light within must emanate to uphold the celebratory temperament and thus lead us on to discovering a better 'us' each year.

I decided to go all the way to create my own world of vivid hues. I decided to gift a new look for my wardrobe to house as a keepsake this Diwali to bring a new styling with a twist. This Diwali had to be #TraditionMyWay

A customary gesture in the family has been to choose one of my Grandma's many exquisitely crafted Silk Lehengas paired with well-to-go-along and 'handled with care' jewelry sets. Though the entire ensemble may sound heavy to carry, the grace it imparts is unparalleled

This time around, instead of donning a look from the familial heirloom, I decided to look the 'light' way thanks to companionship offered by Jabong. I decided to select an elegant designer Saree and work around my Diwali look, #TraditionMyWay.

While I progressed browsing through the e-catalog, it became increasingly difficult for me to choose one, as I smitten by the vibrant hues of all Sarees. Selecting only one of the many was a time-consuming task. Yet, I knew when I had found the perfect one. I zeroed in on a graceful, gorgeous yellow saree from Hypnotex. My aesthetic designer Georgette Saree is fabulous, don't you think?

~~~
Stilettos are the way to go ALWAYS, to be paired with those six yards of feminity - and that is a rule embossed in gold, in the Style Bible. After narrowing down on the color of the footwear and the occasion, it was meant to be worn to - thanks to the Color and Occasion filters on Jabong - I decided to opt for these Golden Stilettos by Shuz Touch. Classy, elegant and game on point!
~~~

The time then came to choose a classic timepiece, for me to flaunt. What could be more classic than black pearls? More so, when being proposed by timeless Titan Raga? This one wrist watch had aimed for my heart, hands down!

~~~
To accentuate my look further and in keeping with the Indian tradition of wearing gold ornaments but with a twist, since it had to be #TraditionMyWay, I opted for trendy 18-kt black gold! Both the pendant and the studs from the house of Sparkles made sure that I sparkled my way through the family get-together. See the fabulous shimmer, which dazzles for yourself!
~~~

The jewelry pieces were exquisitely crafted to lend the perfect amount of glamor pixie-dust to my ensemble! However, the two pieces of the Style Jigsaw left to place, were a complementary clutch and the perfect makeup kit.

Well, if I was talking of pearls on my wrist, then I must possess an oyster too, from where to source those black beauties, ain't it? This sleek and spacious black polyurethane clutch from Dice caught my fancy and I fell in love with it. It has a voguish make, is waterproof and would thus last long.

~~~
L’Oréal Paris has always been my one-stop-shop for all my makeup needs and thus this wonderful five-piece Go-Glam Pink Makeup Kit was chosen without a doubt. It has my five subtle items - Compact, Kajal, Liner, Lipstick, Blush-On and would be well-equipped to endow me with my minimalistic look this Diwali, with #TraditionMyWay, thanks to ‘http://www.Jabong.com/’
~~~

The entire ensemble made sure that I donned my stylish best, especially because it was #TraditionMyWay. It earned me the customary compliments from the better half too and made me realize that a subtle spin in the tale could also equate with the age-old fairytale. :)

~~~
Happy Diwali, Dear Readers! :)
Have a prosperous year ahead.
It's All About You, Says DP!
What?
Launch of 'All About You', by Deepika Padukone and Myntra.
When?
Tuesday, October 20.
Where?
The Claridges, New Delhi.
Tuesday afternoon was All About You. Kidding you, not!
It was the perfect setting for the launch of an apparel line, conceptualized and designed by a diva - an actress who has been impressing the Indian audience with her impeccable personality ever since 2007.
None other than Deepika Padukone had flown down to Delhi in order to launch her own fashion brand All About You in association with leading e-commerce giant, Myntra.
All About You from Deepika Padukone celebrates the beautiful actress's elegant yet unique style. It was a pleasure to witness the actress carrying off her stylish best self while bejewling her creations with adjectives of the likes of 'comfort, romamtic, feminine, and fun'.
~~~

Boasting of floral prints and pastel hues, the pleasant, charming and aesthetically crafted silhouttes were exhibited by some professional models over a ramp-walk session.

Doesn't she dazzle the ramp, once and for all?

Deepika Padukone!

~~~
Deepika candidly let members of the audience know how she had spent nine months designing and perfecting the collection in collaboration with French design agency, Carlin and Myntra's in-house team.
She effortlessly shared her experience:
"It was a pleasure working with the design team to create a collection that is simple, elegant & comfortable, with styles that match my sensibilities. All About You aims at enabling girls to showcase their personal style."
Mr. Ananth Narayanan, CEO, Myntra was elated and remarked that All About You lived up to its promise of being a collection that connects with young women. The brand will widen our reach and the secret ingredient of its success would be the brand philosophy of simple designs that were easy to wear.
~~~

Yours Truly had her minute of fame with the lady of the evening when I was handed the mic during the QnA with her. She was quick to choose her profession over her passion, i.e. acting over designing when I asked her about what gave her a higher 'high'.

Also, my knowing that white was her favorite color of sorts made DP quip with a giggle. Afterwards she added to her answer by saying that pastels go well with the concept of All About You.

~~~
Since Myntra has since long, gone app-only, All About You has been launched exclusively on the Myntra app.
All About You has been rolled out at a well-within-reach price point of ₹1500 onward.
~~~

Well, that's not all that the evening had to offer, though. Knowing that it had upset my daughter to compulsarily choose attending college over meeting (atleast seeing) Deepika in person, I made sure that I obtained a surprise for her from DP.

What do I receive for her?

With this, I close the piece for the day. :)

A Trip Down CaratLane...

What?

The Launch Of #CaratLaneVirtualTryOn, by one of India's leading e-commerce site, CaratLane.

When?

Thursday, August 20.

Where?

The Park Hotel, New Delhi.

Yesterday evening was set to be made more exquisite, thanks to my most preferred e-commerce site to shop for modern pieces of jewelry.

The star of the evening, hogging the limelight, was #CaratLaneVirtualTryOn. The pioneer retailer of precious jewelry and gems in the online space was now ready to venture into the App-savvy world with their CaratLane App.

In conjunction with their core mission to Democratize Jewelry, CaratLane has incorporated cutting-edge facial recognition into their latest offering.

I would have forever been skeptical about buying precious jewelry over the flashy screen had it not been for CaratLane.

Thanks to them for being the first to introduce an array of reliable services in the gems and jewelry market, of the likes of:

  • Try At Home
  • Same Day Delivery
  • Open Displays In-Store

Being the brainchild of Mithun Sacheti who comes from a similar background of Jaipur Gems, CaratLane has been receptive to the creation of a hassle-free browsing experience.

The annoying fact that jewelry stores are always guarded to the helm, with all exquisite creations being locked up in glass cases has been countered by them with a subtle statement:

"Why can't I browse through jewelry just like I browse through clothes or footwear?"

"We don't keep our jewelry locked up in glass cases. We keep them in open displays so that you can pick up, try on and play with our jewelry."

~~~
What particularly impresses me is CaratLane's Design Philosophy:
Thoughtful Designs,
Inspired By Art
Revitalizing Heritage,
Innovation At <3
~~~

CaratLane had begun by focussing on two segments when they had started out new.

Those were:

  • Solitaires.
  • Jewelry At Everyday Price Point.

They are now on the outlook to venture into the Evening Wear segment, by focusing on Contemporary Designs, after having rolled out numerous iconic collections of the likes of Showstoppers, Paisley, Eterna, Nizam, and Fleur.

Showcased here are the Trellis and soon-to-be-launched Lotus collections, which had been exhibited at the Experience Zone.

~~~
With the realization that opportunities are increasing, lifestyles are changing, and fashion is evolving also comes the hard-hitting fact that a business builds on the foundation of Trust.
To answer the perpetually engrossing question posed to all e-commerce websites:
"How does this LOOK on ME?"
CaratLane has launched #CaratLaneVirtualTryOn to aid customers to discover the perfect piece of jewelry according to their taste and requirements. Taking their service one step ahead, CaratLane has also provided the facility to create and share an entire Look Book of sorts. :)
The closing of the event was constituted of a rapid-fire QnA which was aced by Mithun, Atul and Guru and an exclusive Blogger's Photo Session.
In my honest opinion, CaratLane has been able to perfectly gauge the preferences of the Indian woman today, thereby being able to meet the aesthetic need for modern and contemporary pieces of jewelry.
CaratLane has my vote on #CaratLaneVirtualTryOn. :)
P.S.: All collages have been specifically created to put together this blog post, by Yours Truly. :)
I #WearToExpress My Freedom To Fashion!
~~~

रोटी, कपडा, मकान

Is Now...

~~~
Fashion.
Food.
Family.
~~~

Freedom! :)

The foundation of Freedom lies in the three most basic necessities of life - the 3Fs of Fashion, Food, and Family.

The support of a Family in testing times, good Food to satiate your appetite, and the confidence to sport your own sense of Fashion, are like the x, y and z-coordinate to a spatial existence.

With the Indian Independence Day having just gone by, it is important that we realize the essence of being free - free in all respects - be it physically, emotionally, psychologically et al.

After all, the secret of Happiness is Freedom. And, the secret of Freedom is Courage.

The courage to take the boldest of decisions in the hardest of circumstances.

~~~
Even if that bold decision is that of a rip-me-apart choice from an array of looks in your wardrobe and that circumstance is a have-to-attend occasion! :D
I swear by the multitude of experiences which have bettered my decision-making skills year by year.
Categorically speaking for the the domain of style, my fashion sense has seen the era of monochrome as a two-teethed kid, the vibrancy of Retro as a teenager in a nation which is obsessed with cinematic trends and the evolution of a perception as an entire era in itself.
Yes, that's me with my elder brother, in the days of monochrome. :)
The hues of black and white overshadowed the essence of being dolled up, as it hardly mattered to that generation, in those times.
With  the advent of color however, our sense of creating our own wardrobes was endowed a new vision altogether.
Be it men or women, we learnt of complementary colors, of contrasting hues, and of accessories which 'went well' with our outfits.
A sense of self-consciousness ensured an outlook towards how the people in society viewed us and opined on our so-called 'dressing sense'.
~~~

They say, wear your heart on your sleeve. I am of the opinion that our choice of outfit and all that complements it defines our personality. It is like showcasing your individuality for that world out there to see.

I believe in setting my own trends, and not blindly following the 'in-thing'. I am proud of the fact that I do so, for it lends a certain iota of uniqueness to my character.

Suiting my decisions to the situations at times, coordinating my situations with my decisions at others, is what sets me apart! ;)

~~~
Of course, you wouldn't want to be a misfit, by only dressing to kill. You must also dress on point. For you wouldn't want to be bombarded with both criticism and embarrassment at once, would you?
It is essential to realize the need to maintain a balance between the art of blending in, whilst standing out. For, society is intimidated by a wolf among the  herd of sheep.
Either be there in your sheep skin or prepare to be ousted by the oppression of the crowd! ;)
It doesn't suffice if you completely blend in. Not if you completely stand out, either. :)
~~~

Contemplating on the question of how Fashion sets me Free:

Embracing the perception of fashion comes with the realization of self-appreciation

For me, over and above the fact my sense of fashion is unique to me is the fact that my body is unique to me too.

For all young ladies out there, my motto is only one - Shed all your bodily apprehensions and let the breeze feel your soul. :)

Had it not been for the societal apprehensions and the distorted perceptions of 'beauty', our world would have been a much more inclusion-friendly world to inhabit.

Who tells you how to differentiate between fair and ugly, slim and voluptuous, and all such distinctive terms?

None but yourself and your impression of societal norms. :)

~~~
As far as my Look-Book is concerned, I have an array of outfits spanning over three decades! :)
Have a look for yourself, and you'll see me transform from a bachelorette to a married lady to a blessed mother, with the transformation adopting the stylish way.
Note also, my modern avatar towards the recent times, thanks to a thought process makeover by my daughter who urged me to go the free-spirited way. :)
Six subtle looks from the venerable archives,
The humble सलवार-कमीज़ has been a suitable companion.
Be it as a means of daily-wear outfits,
Or as a silken embellishment in tandem.
My most loyal counterpart to holidaying,
As comfortable as this dress can be!
Each variation in styling,
Gives a different look,
Wear the दुपट्टा over one shoulder or both,
You'll look elegant in any which way, for sure! :)
#BeYou.
#WearToExpress! :D
~~~

The epitome of elegance, grace, class and style,
Those six yards of a single piece of cloth,

With a sea of adaptations in draping to its credit,
These are your five-minute-fix to sophistication.

Be it Chiffon, Georgette, Silk, or Chanderi,
You'll never run out of options,

Suiting every circumstance, every situation,
It fits well on each and every occasion.

The chic साड़ी always comes to the rescue,
For a lasting first impression! :)

#BeYou.

#WearToExpress! :D

~~~
The sense of fashion goes for a whirlwind all together,
When you see a sea-change in perception.
Travelling so far and wide on the trendy route,
Your wardrobe takes a turn and gifts you a makeover!
A convenient dressing style,
For when there's paucity of time.
Accessorizing takes priority too,
Be it jewelry or handbags.
A complete look is what GenX emphasizes on,
Some attempts to match up too! :)
#BeYou.
#WearToExpress! :D
~~~

While a complete look has been accentuated over all these years, I've also unintentionally been one with the many elements of nature, more often than not.

Have a look. :)

At all these occasions, I have enjoyed the sweetness of doing nothing.

Yes, I did nothing. Yet, I was able to color-coordinate the hues which I had donned, to frame picture perfect moments.

Be it the snow laden Christmas tree, which matched my Snow-white cardigan, or the wheatish haystacks which matched my orange hues.

Be it the pinkish Bougainvillea which complemented my reddish chrome, or the topaz-turquoise shade of the sea and sky which accessorize my cool blue tone!

Awesome, ain't they? :)

It is in 'Dolce Far Niente' and its pleasant idleness that I discovered the myriad hued me.

~~~
As I close this post, I would like to mark a tribute to the erstwhile Independence Day, by amalgamating Jabong's Creative with three of my twenty looks showcased here.
These Pearls Are Taking Creative Business By Storm...
Top post on IndiBlogger.in, the community of Indian Bloggers
~~~

I could never have imagined that imparting education could be such an innovative, involving and interesting foray, until the day I observed a glowing smile on the faces of students I met. The same, pure selfless happiness was to be observed on the faces of the faculty members I met. This is probably the best example of a win-win situation.

The students not only got enough opportunities and liberty to learn and enhance their individual knowledge banks but also, ample innovation and freedom to explore newer and unvisited worlds in their respective fields.

All the credit goes to the teaching methodology and a nurturing environment which has been adopted by them across all the courses, across all their campuses. That is the real reason behind the global reputation of this Academy in the arena of fashion, design, and creativity.

I was among the privileged ones to witness #Portfolio15 - a sea of talent, creativity, innovation, out-of-box thinking, and fun - by polished Pearlites of the well known, Pearl Academy, formerly known as Pearl Academy Of Fashion, organized at the NSIC Exhibition Ground, Okhla, New Delhi.

When we talk of creativity, it is mostly limited, focusing in one direction. For a wonderful change, we witnessed the meaning of creativity going beyond its rudimentary definition. For a change, creativity could be witnessed all around us, universally in all the directions, that day. There were an unmatched energy and zest around, and a superb bonding between the students and the teaching staff.

The moment I reached the venue there were barriers right within the immediate periphery beyond which I was not allowed to take my vehicle. The burning sun had me worried when I realized that from that point on, I would have to walk along the dominating ball of heat. To my relief, the Academy had run a shuttle service for the masses' convenience.

Proclaiming myself as a Blogger and grabbing the exclusive Media Invite was as hassle free as reaching the venue. The moment I entered, I was greeted by the faculty in-charge of the four 'Schools of Pearl'. I was acquainted with a kiosk familiarizing me with the School Of Foundation, meant for the first-year students to grasp the world outside their cocoons, and discover their inherent creativity.

This funky bicycle is what welcomed me into a world of out-of-box designs...

In my opinion, all the Schools are quite interestingly and aptly named, in tune with their theme and strategic grooming of the respective students studying in these schools. It was astonishing to see more than five hundred projects on display by the Final Year students, who were ready to take the Fashion Fraternity by storm. These projects are a part of the proceedings for the fulfillment of the requirements of their course I was told, where they need to put their best foot forward, demonstrating all their skills in a polished and innovative manner.

The first day of a three-day long #Porfolio15  had over fifteen hundred school-going students from around thirty top schools of Delhi - NCR, attending an exclusive series of workshops on 'Design Immersion Experience'.  The students who attended these workshops were quite thrilled to familiarize themselves with this new and unexplored world of creativity and design.

They were seen enjoying the sessions and absorbing the insights with complete enthusiasm. These workshops were conducted in various streams like Product Design, Photography, Styling, and so on. It was the expertise of Pearl Academy that was mesmerizing the visiting students and I am sure most of them would have been thinking of joining this wonderful world once they cope with their school studies. That is the magic of Pearl Academy.

Sneha's tea-set was refreshingly geometric...

This is what the School Of Creative Business had to offer...

On the same lines, the second day was set to welcome a special guest – Manish Malhotra – as Guest of Honor. He had a number of things planned for the time he was going to spend at #Portfolio15, during the latter half of the day. He had to address the final year students after going through the effort each of them had put in their projects. Pearl's final year students were seen having the time of their life when they got a chance, with not only Manish Malhotra addressing them face-to-face but also to grab a memorabilia - a 'group selfie' with the renowned designer.

The students were assigned groups to walk to the stage and grab their moment with Manish, and all this was in such a disciplined manner that there was not a single moment of chaos or disorganization.

After that, in the evening, there were two fashion shows, one before the Guest of Honor's arrival, and the other, in his presence. Both the shows were fantastic and it was quite good to note that the creativity demonstrated by students had taken him by a pleasant surprise.

 Not only Manish, but also the ace designer duo Shantanu-Nikhil were present at the event and were all praises for this ocean of talent, that has been churning Pearls in the era of Creative Business for over a good two decades! :)
