Taफree On My Mind...

Tafree Cafe and Terrace Bar Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Taफree is the newest entrant on the food scene in Connaught Place. It was thus a pleasant surprise when an invite for an Exclusive Preview Lunch was extended to me.

The outlet has quite a strategic location in the heart of Delhi. Located in F Block, it is the first outlet you spot when you exit from Gate No. 5 of Rajiv Chowk Metro Station. I say it is the first outlet you spot because its logo is done in vibrant orange and pink hues.

Taफree is essentially a Terrace Cafe situated on the second floor and also sports a bar. The terrace has a hawk's eye view of the Indian Tricolor right before one's eyes, though the outdoor area is a smoking zone.

The restaurant itself is vibrantly done with plush seating and eye-catching wall graffiti and the preparation as well as the presentation of dishes scores a point in their kitty.

Here's what all was served at the Media Preview:

Appetizers:

Palak Patta Chaat, which was just as good as the one savored at House Of Commons. Crisp and flavorful with curd and Sev.

Taफree Veg Platter was a vegetarian's delight with an assortment of Cheese, Mushroom, Corn, and Potato preparations.

Pesto Chicken was nicely done with the Pesto paste layering on chicken chunks.

Falafel, which is an authentic Lebanese preparation.

Paneer Tikka was a classic appetizer well prepared at Taफree.

Moroccan Chicken Satay, slightly spiced, though well prepared.

Mutton Gilafi Seekh Kebab was served with a likable creamy texture.

Prawn Masala and Chilly Garlic Prawn, both dishes were prepared and presented well.

Zig Zag Fish was served on skewers, crispy and golden brown. The tartar sauce also went well along with.

Chicken Kaali Mirch, wherein the combination of pepper and chicken cannot possibly go wrong.

Aaloo Nazakat was plated beautifully, though had to feast on this one solely through its aesthetics.

Mocktails / Shakes:

Fakeer, with a fantastic presentation of a fuming liquid nitrogen tumbler, and the refreshing taste of Khus and Pineapple.

Kit Kat Shake, with the creaminess of chocolate and gooey chocolate syrup, it was served with a Kit Kat on the side.

Cold Coffee, with cocoa powder on top, and the Indian Flag in sight on Republic Day's eve, what more could you ask for?

Don't Know was a fantastic dual-toned, watermelon based mocktail, not to mention its name was amazing enough.

Snicker Shake, again presented in a tumbler of fuming liquid nitrogen.

Main Course:

  • Mutton Laal Maas
  • Veg Biryani
  • Daal Makhni
  • Handi Chicken
  • Ajwain Parantha
  • Chilly Paneer
  • Hakka Noodles

Desserts:

  • Blueberry Cheesecake
  • Tiramisu

A point that is a positive in my critique is that they have separate zones (indoor and outdoor) for patrons who are teetotalers or otherwise, however the utilization depends on patrons themselves.

Having been one of the few bloggers to be Taफree's guest, I can vouch that this place is going to go places solely on the basis of its food itself. Wishing them success for the same. :)

Bollywood Style Dining At Filmy Flavours...

Filmy Flavours Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Filmy Flavours, located in Sector 63, Noida is all about dining with a cinematic touch. The restaurant is tastefully done in line with their thought of an ode to the 100 Years Of Indian Cinema.

The outlet is located on the first floor and the walls all around the flight of stairs leading you up to the entrance sports fun trivia from movies of yesteryears, be it Kabhie Kabhie, Silsila, QSQT, Sholay, or recent ones like PK.

Filmy Flavours is a Bollywood lover's world in itself with cut-outs of Raj and Simran situated right at the entrance followed by the '3 Idiots' style colored bottoms.

Iconic dialogues and props from classics being placed on walls are enough to spark a conversation concerning one's favorite film. All across the outlet, there are numerous memorabilia of Film Award Ceremonies like Filmfare, Screen, and Stardust.

With cut-outs of celebs like Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, you could surely reach out for a photo-op if still daydream of meeting them face to face. With the retro vinyl discs, CDs, and audio cassettes hanging from the ceiling and a shiny star casting its reflection on your table, Filmy Flavours is a place where food grabs the limelight.

Coming from the same ownership as Jungle Jamboree, to two outlets of which I have been to in the past, Filmy Flavours also offers a similar buffet concept wherein there is no dearth of variety and the movie-inspired nomenclature of dishes.

The only difference from Jungle Jamboree is in the theme, nomenclature, and the absence of an on-table grill at Filmy Flavours.

All in all, I had a good time at Filmy Flavours, and if you're a die-hard Bollywood lover, Filmy Flavours is your kind of place for Bollywood style dining. :)
